7 Tips to Writing a Blog that’s Scannable
Web surfers don’t usually stay on one page for a very long time. So it is best to post your blog in a scannable format. Make sure that the visitor can easily get the idea of your posts and blog in just a few seconds. Some instructions on how to create a scannable blog are listed below:
1. Create a title that is interesting. Open your post with appealing titles. Also keep in mind that search engines weigh titles heavier than the content, so better make it short and clear.
2. Apply a heading on your posted blog. This makes the search engine locate your text better. Without using a heading, it splits the post into smaller portions with headlines for each part.
3. Make lists to break your long text into short and easily scannable content.
4. Use bold and italicise text to get attention within your blog, but be careful -- overusing it will make your post messy and difficult to understand.
5. Put in links. It can be helpful for readers to get more information, but do not overuse links. Too many links can have a negative result on the readability.
6. Using images is the best way to break up heavy text. It gives more attention and colour to your posts, but make sure that you do not overuse them. Overused images will result in cluttered, hard to read text. Also make sure that the images posted have the permission of the photographer.
7. Write short paragraphs to make your post easy to scan. One to two sentences are acceptable and typically welcomed by visitors.
